Rare Retro Wedgwood Black Basalt Coffee Set Designed By Robert Minkin Dated 1963. Very stylish retro Black Basalt coffee set with glazed interior.

Tall coffee pot - 11 1/2 tall including lid. Cream pitcher - 2 5/8 tall.

Sugar bowl with lid - 4 1/2 tall including lid. 6 Cups - 2 1/4 tall x 2 3/4 diameter. 6 Saucers - 5 3/4 diameter 1 flea chip and each saucer has a rough spot on the underneath side. Robert Minkin joined Wedgwood as chief designer in l955 after training at the Royal College of Art. Thirteen years later he was appointed Group Designer and moved with his team to the new circular design studio opened in l968, and in l979 he became Design Director. A number of distinctive tableware patterns were designed by him during during the l950's, and he also produced designs for basalt. This set is in good condition. The saucers each have a tiny rough spot on the under side which I believe were created when manufactured. 1 saucer has 2 tiny raised rough spots that I believe were also part of the manufacturing.
