I can recommend this watch for somebody with a wrist size of 14.5cm in circumference and larger. The simple, striking black dial with silver bezel and black alligator strap make an oversized, elegant presence. But with a certain French flair and elegance that Boucheron is of course revered for bringing.

This black version is "The Night" or "Le Nuit" version. My wife wants me to emphasize that this one, probably even more than the silver one, is one of the most difficult fine timepieces to photograph as it shines and has reflections galore. This is a great, classic and collectible watch which is particular suited to somebody who understands detailing like the use of two cabochon saphires and a double gadroon bezel.

The build quality on this watch is extraordinary - particularly for the price. The watch has strong wrist presence and the detailing on stuff like the cool bezel, the cloud de Paris dial work, exhibition case back and movement finishing. A great watch for an elegant person who wants a fine timepiece but also aspects of true luxury and integration of jewelry into their timepiece.

The strap is virtually brand new and uses a deployant clasp to keep the look sleek and minimalist on the backside of the wrist. A nicely finished high-grade Swiss mechanical (automatic) movement. With the back-side engraving "Je ne Sonne que les Heures Heureuses" or "I only count the joyful hours, " this watch is classic but light-hearted. The back has a great exhibition caseback to see the wonderful movement finishing which, again, is a large part of the value proposition for this timeless fine timepiece. Some final words on the Maison de Boucheron.

Boucheron was founded in 1858 by Frederic Boucheon and he set up the shop in the arcades of the Palais Royale. From his vantage point, he could see a cannon that was fired at high-noon everyday to help Parisians set their timepiece e. The cannon had the phrasing. Je ne Sonne que les Heures Heureuses. Frederic was smitten by the cannon and as such Frederic set to engraving the same phrasing into his fine timepieces.

The House of Boucheron is a French family dynasty founded by Frederic in 1858 with the opening of the first store in the Galerie de Valois at Palais-Royal. The namesake atelier was created in 1866 and one year later won the Gold Medel during the Exposition Universelle of 1867. In 1893, Boucheron moved to Place Vendome as the first jeweler to set-up shop at that location. It choose the sunniest corner of the edifice as it would make its fine diamonds and finishing work sparkle the most. In that same year, it set-up a shop in Moscow and now has a handful of other boutiques in the major cosmopolitan cities around the world.

There is history with a Maharajah as well. In August 1928, during a visit to Paris, Bhupinder Singh, otherwise known as the Maharajah of Patiala, walked across the Place Vendome from his suite at the nearby Ritz carrying iron safes filled with thousands of diamonds, rubies, emeralds and pearls. He had a hefty entourage of Sikh guards with him of course.

The Maharajah presented this massive haul to Louis Boucheron (son of Frederic) for a very special order. And Louis then made 149 different designs from the gems and those designs still influence the design, ethos and DNA of Boucheron's jewelry and timepiece flourishes today. Lastly, if you need one further bit of convincing, about the elegance of La Maison de Boucheron consider this point of fact. Customers can stay at a stunning appartment (see the last photo) above the Place Vendome store for one night as a courtesy from Boucheron.

It has stunning Eiffel Tour views and is in the best location in Paris. It is rumored that to get this level of free pampering you have to spend over one million euros on Boucheron's fine products. Everything we sell is working fine for all functions when it leaves our facility (or more specifically the safe deposit box where our watches reside).
